Chip Seal Maintenance

Project #: MH2402

Project Description

The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will be applying chip seal, a road surface treatment that gives new life to roads. Chip sealing improves the surface texture, waterproofs the surface, and protects the underlying pavement from oxidation, aging, and traffic wear. It also helps to seal small cracks and imperfections.

Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-September and will take place at specified locations in Buckeye, Surprise, Phoenix, and Mesa. Work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The resurfacing will be done in sections, one side of the road at a time, and may affect travel through the area.

  • Construction personnel will be on-site to assist and ensure access for residents, school buses, postal services, emergency vehicles, and trash pickup.
  • After the material is placed, do not drive on it until cones or barricades have been removed.

Please plan ahead for added travel time, watch for construction signs, equipment, and personnel, and drive slowly through the construction zone to keep everyone safe.

The schedule is subject to change for reasons beyond MCDOT’s control, including weather, equipment failure, illness, or other circumstances.
