Carefree Highway Bridge Transition Slabs

Project #: MB2603

Project Description

The bridge will have new concrete transition slabs and a new compression joint installed to help prevent the asphalt shoving that occurs at each end of the bridge because there is no bridge joint. The project will also include some drainage at each end of the bridge’s sidewalks to help prevent erosion that typically occurs.

Creating a new transition slab will require removing the existing asphalt and soil, then installing new ab for the concrete transition slab for support and installing new pavement markings and striping on the new transition slabs. Bridge will require a lane closure and will direct traffic to the north or south lane to keep one eastbound lane open.
