Project Description
The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) advises drivers to plan ahead for temporary, daytime lane closures and possible delays in both directions of roadways for pavement preservation work in northwestern and western Maricopa County, beginning Tuesday, December 16, 2025 through mid March, 2026.
Crews will perform the pavement preservation work along:
- Phon D Sutton Road
- Coon Bluff Road
- Goldfield Road
Previously completed segments:
- Select roadways along West Thunderbird Boulevard;
- Landcaster Drive;
- Select roadways along Agua Fria Drive;
- Royal Oak Road;
- Select roadways along Alabama Drive;
- Select roadways along 103rd Avenue;
- Select roadways in Aguila;
- Select roadways in/around Lake Pleasant Regional Park;
- Select roadways in Wittmann;
- White Wing and Montgomery roads between 171st and 163rd avenues;
- Dixileta Drive between 166th and 163rd avenues;
- 166th and 167th avenues between Dixileta Drive and the Central Arizona Project Canal;
- Jomax Road between El Granada Boulevard and Dysart Road;
- Dysart Road between Jomax and Happy Valley roads;
- Litchfield Road between Briles and Yearling roads;
- select roadways in McDowell Mountain Regional Park;
- select roadways in White Tank Mountain Regional Park;
- select roadways in Sun City;
- select roadways in the Granite Vista, Montana Farms and Tara Estates neighborhoods in the Citrus Park area;
- Olive Avenue between the Agua Fria River and 99th Avenue;
- Phon D Sutton, Coon Bluff and Goldfield roads from the Bush Highway to the Salt River;
- select roadways in the Harquahala Valley area;
- select roadways in the Wintersburg and Palo Verde Generating Station area.
**The project map will be updated to reflect current construction activity as work progresses**
The project includes:
- Applying crack seal to existing asphalt concrete pavement.
- Cleaning up the work zone and other miscellaneous work.
The pavement preservation project will help extend the life of the roadway, renew the surface and seal small cracks. During construction, road restrictions may be in place to accommodate work. Please watch for work crews, reduce speeds and obey all traffic control signs in the work zone.
