479th Avenue, south of Courthouse Road Cattleguard Removal/Replacement
Project #: MG2601
Project Description
The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will be repairing and replacing a cattleguard along 479th Avenue, about one-half mile south of Courthouse Road, near McKinley Street located in western Maricopa County. This project will help extend the life of the roadway and correct uneven transitions caused by travel over the cattleguards. During work, MCDOT advises residents and drivers to plan ahead for temporary lane closures and restrictions related to construction. Work is anticipated to take approximately one week, beginning in late February/early March, 2026.
The project includes:
- Replacing the cattleguard along 479th Avenue, about one half-mile south of Courthouse Road.
- Regrading of roadway approaches.
- Completing minor work items and close out tasks.
Flagging operations will be in place to maintain traffic flow through the work zone and provide access along 479th Avenue during construction. Property access will be maintained, though brief delays may occur as equipment passes driveways and side roads. Please watch for work crews, reduce speeds and follow all traffic control signs.
