Chip Seal Preservation, Northwest and Southwest Maricopa County
Project #: MH2601
Project Description
The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) advises drivers to plan ahead for temporary, daytime lane closures and possible delays in both directions of roadways for pavement preservation work in northwestern and southwestern Maricopa County, beginning Thursday, September 25 through late October, 2025.
MCDOT is aware of chip seal unraveling on certain roadway phases of this project and is working with the contractor to correct the issue as quickly as possible.
Crews will perform the pavement preservation work along:
- A three-mile stretch of Castle Hot Springs Road, starting at the U.S. Route 60 intersection in Morristown;
- A two-and-a-half-mile stretch of Constellation Road from near 299th Avenue to the county line with Yavapai County in Wickenburg;
- Olive Avenue between 203rd Avenue and Perryville Road;
- Glendale Avenue between Perryville Road and Cotton Lane;
- McDowell Road between 191st and 194th avenues;
- McDowell Road between Perryville and Citrus roads;
- Lower Buckeye Road between 6th Street and 124th Avenue;
- 91st Avenue between Northern and Orangewood avenues;
- McDowell Road between 83rd and 95th avenues.
The project map will be updated to reflect current construction activity as work progresses
The project includes:
- Chip sealing the existing roadway.
- Striping work and pavement markings.
- Cleaning up the work zone and other miscellaneous work.
The pavement preservation project will help extend the life of the roadway, renew the surface, seal cracks, and protect the road from UV rays. Please watch for work crews, reduce speeds and obey all traffic control signs in the work zone.
